Senior BIM Developer Job Description

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior BIM Consultant with expertise in BIM/IFC modeling, spatial geometry, engineering systems, and AI-driven solutions. The role involves developing an AI-assisted commissionability review platform that analyzes BIM/IFC models, commissioning rules, and schematic drawings to identify design and commissioning issues, generate intelligent review reports, and provide model-linked recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain web-based BIM applications for AI-assisted commissionability reviews.

Review, assess, and process IFC/BIM models, metadata, relationships, and engineering system information.

Design and implement workflows for extracting and analyzing BIM model properties and contextual data.

Integrate IFC model viewers, PDF parsing capabilities, and AI agent frameworks into the solution.

Develop model-linked issue management capabilities using IFC GUIDs, viewpoints, comments, and review decisions.

Configure and optimize AI-assisted assessments against commissioning rules and engineering standards.

Collaborate with commissioning SMEs to validate outputs, refine prompts, and improve AI accuracy.

Generate structured commissionability reports with approve/reject recommendations and supporting rationale.

Support pilot evaluations, measure solution effectiveness, and recommend improvements for future phases.

Participate in workshops, requirements gathering, data assessments, and stakeholder reviews.

Mandatory Skills

Strong experience in BIM Development and IFC data structures.

Expertise in Spatial Geometry, 3D Model Processing, and Engineering Systems.

Hands-on experience with IFC model parsing, IFC GUIDs, metadata extraction, and model relationships.

Proficiency in C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar development technologies.

Experience with Web-based BIM Viewers (xeokit, IFC.js, Autodesk Forge, APS, or similar).

Knowledge of BuildingSMART IFC standards and BIM interoperability.

Experience in AI/LLM integrations, Agentic AI frameworks, Prompt Engineering, and RAG solutions.

Familiarity with PDF parsing, document intelligence, and unstructured data processing.

Understanding of commissioning processes, construction engineering, or asset management domains.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills.

Preferred Skills

Experience with Azure AI Services, OpenAI, LangChain, Semantic Kernel, or CrewAI.

Knowledge of BCF (BIM Collaboration Format) workflows and issue management.

Experience with graph databases, vector databases, and AI search capabilities.

Exposure to construction, commissioning, digital engineering, or smart building projects.

Experience building AI-powered review or compliance validation solutions.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Technology, Architecture, Computer Science, or related field.

8+ years of BIM/Engineering software development experience.

Proven experience working with BIM platforms, IFC data, and large-scale engineering models.

Experience delivering AI-enabled digital engineering solutions is highly desirable
